Sixth day Visit around Govindapuram & Tanjavur

2nd Aug

Again a chocablock day with all the Gods. As we were leaving the same day night from Tanjavur we decided to split the day as morning half when we planned to go round Govindapuram and noon go down to Tanjavur see the temples en route and visit the Big temple `Bragadeeswarar temple close to station and board the train at 1.30 am ( midnight to get back to Chennai)

Around Govindapuram -
Govindapuram is truly a place designed to make one go spirtually upward.
A small village close to a rivulet of River Kaveri, is filled with spiritual history every inch.
Starting with Bogar Adhistanam, then there is Nama sankirthana hall and dotted with other saints remembrance

places, samadhis, jeeva samadhi etc. And a newly built Vittal temple are all bound to take one closer to divine, a true satsang region.

After morning going around the namasankirthana halls and adhisthtanam of great saints and also visiting Kanchi peetam of 67 madathipathi with Sridhar Iyerwal jeevasamathi we returned back home to Radhas place.
Having food and rest we started early to Tanjavur telling goodbye to Govindapuram and telling our gratitude to the spiritual energy the place gave us.

Enroute we saw some important places
1. Thirukandiyur Brhhma sikadishwarar mangalambikai kovil
2.Swami malai Murugar kovil

It is one of the six holy shrines of Lord Murgar.
Shiva is Sundareshwar and Godess is Meenakshi

3. Ichangudu  and village nearby where Mahaperiyava was born.
It was our great bhagyam that we could go to the birth place of Mahapriyava, Thanks to Radha , she suddenly suggested as its on the way we could go there.
It was a humble house still maintained as it is except for few renovations. We felt blessed that we could visit this holy place

3. Big temple - Bragadishwarar kovil

One of the most magnificinet temple of Chola dynasty  made in 10th century AD by the Chola king Rajaraja. It beats all imagination of grandeur. A huge monolith. an architectural wonder.
It is right at the centre or Tanjore and gets eyeballs of the tourist and piligrims. Such temples speaks about a culture bygone which we cannot fathom now. By the time we reached the temple it was evening and we had to literally sprint along all the numerous prharams which were situated at quite high and we had to negotiate huge stone steps to reach them. One shoulg be physically fit to take a quick look. We did phew... and gathered some idea of the greatnesss of those times.

We sprinted then to the station where Radha parted ways taking a train to Govindapuram back while I and Saras waited for the 1.30 train back to Chennai from the world of temples.

A complete week we were transported to another realm, deep along the spirtual lanes and at times nostalgic lanes. We came back determined we should keep this window open to get ourselves to this realm time and again to experience the mystic
