Fourth day Travel to Govindapuram & Thirunallur Sanishwaran
The karikal express at midnight 1.30 p. took us from Palghat junction to Tiruchi early morning.
Our good friend Radha was at the station to receive us. Radha from then on was our friend ,adviser, guide for the enriching trip of important temples in Tanjore and around.
From the station at Tiruchi it was clear 2 hr drive to her place. Receiving us in the station, we went to Radha's place Govidapuram directly halting for breakfast en route.
As we reached quite early, we decided to make most of the day .
Since most of the Navgraham kovil which Tanjavore is famous for as been already seen by us except fro Saniswaran kovil in Tirunallar, we decided to go for it the same day.
Radha's place at Govindapuram is really out of ordinary. Placed very close to Bhogendarar adhishtanam and Kaveri river ( tributary) it is small compact building of 20 to 30 flats. Her flat is in the rear end in the ground floor. Looking serene and charged with spiritual air, Radha stays alone there , also active maintaining a lush green garden adjacent and also actively taking care the affairs of the building being a secretary.

She had appointed for us a neighboring flat which was also well appointed like her flat, and we could stay there in proximity .
We then started our trip to Thirunallar at Karikal which is about 2hrs from Govindapuram . We decided to see some important kovils enroute.
The temples we visited were
1. Arulmigha parimala Ranganathan kovil
2.Thirukadyar kovil
3. Anatha mangala dasa bhuja Anjaneyar swami temple
4. Thirunellar Sanishwaran temple.
1. Arulmigha Parimala Ranganathan kovil -
It is one of the 108 Divya desam temples of Lord Vishnu.

2. Thirukadyur temple
Thirukadayur temple
It is the famous temple of Lord Shiva as Amritagateshwarar and Parvathi as Abirami.
Its a sprawling temple of 7th century where Abirami songs were sung by Abirami pattar on Lord Shiva.
Presently it is the place where shashtiaybhapoorthy's are solemanised with the couple imagined as Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi.
The temple is also known for the story where Lord Shiva extricates Markandeya from the clutches of Yama and make him stay has a 16teen year old lad.
The story behind this special roopa of Anjaneya goes like this:
After killing Ravana, Sri Rama and Seetha start back for Ayodhya for the Pattabhisheka when the sage Narada discreetly informs Sri Rama of some impending danger for him from two of the rakshasas belonging to the Lanka dynasty. While all the rakshasas of Lanka were killed in the holy war, two of them - Raktha Bindu and Raktha Rakkadhan - survived the war and wanted to avenge the killings of their people by destroying Sri Rama and his army. For achieving this end the two had undertaken a severe penance by placing themselves at the bottom of the Ocean. If they complete the penance they will get powers to destroy the world and therefore sage Narada tells Rama to fight them before leaving for Ayodhya. Even as Rama is inclined to complete this task, he remembers that his brother Bharatha is waiting for his return to Ayodhya, and if the return is delayed Bharatha is likely to commit suicide by falling into the fire he has set for this purpose. Appreciating this predicament of Sri Rama, Anjaneya offers to fight the two demons and Sri Rama agrees. All the Devas, who were concerned because of the penance undertaken by the to demons, were pleased with this development and blesses Anjaneya for his victory over the two demons.Thri Nethra Dasa Bhuja Anjaneya
Sri Rama gives his peerless bow [Kothandam] with arrows and a weapon called Navaneetha to Sri Anjaneya to fight the two demons. Vishnu helps by giving the conch [Shanka], Chakra [Sudarshana] and also a weapon called Maththaksham. Brahma gives him a powerful Ankusha. Siva gives his third eye and his Trishul to Anjaneya. Parvathi Devi gives him her whip [Pasham]. Laksmi gives Padmam and Garudan gives his wings to Anjaneya. Thus Sri Anjaneya armed with all these weapons acquires the form of "Thri Nethra Dasa Bhuja Sri Veera Anjaneya" [Veera Anjaneya with three eyes and ten hands]. This form of Anjaneya is what is depicted by the deity presiding the temple at Ananthamangalam. He carries in his five right hands the Sudharshana, Trishulam, Ankusham, Arrows and Maththaksham. His five left hands carry Shanka, Padmam, Pasham, Kothandam and Navaneetham. The third eye decorates his forehead. He carries a quiver full of arrows on his back.
Thirunallar - Saniswaran Kovil
By the time we reached Thirunallar it was late and we rushed through the large premises of the temple lest we miss the darshan. However having one of the last devotees we got a long darshan of Lord Sani and also stayed back to witness the Lord and Devi Parvathi Palli yari pujai' were put to rest. The vist to Saniswaran temple was very satisfactory.
